All truth is God's truth, and the foundation for any scholarly quest for knowledge is the Bible. For example, we use our reason all the time, but why should we give any credence to rational processes? Why is this more than just another survival strategy? The answer is that human beings are made in God's image, and we are rational because God is rational. In this way, biblical truth underpins philosophy and the scientific enterprise in a way that cannot be matched by materialism, post-modernism, or any other ideology of our generation.
Thinking about Earth history that is not rooted in the Bible results in reconstructions that have nothing in common with biblical history. There is no creation, no Adam and Eve, no entrance of sin into the world, no long--lived patriarchs, no Flood and no confusion of languages linked to the Tower of Babel. Bible believers have much work to do to reconstruct a coherent alternative that incorportes these elements of biblical history. This section of our site provides resources to develop a biblical foundation on which we can build our scholarship.
1. The historicity of Genesis
A recurring debate among Christians concerns the literary character of the book
of Genesis. It is vital to know whether we are dealing with a literary framework,
a poetic text, a drama, a revelation, or narrative. This topic is addressed
in Genesis
is history by David Tyler.
2. Animals on the Ark and the Genesis kinds
3. Biblical description of the Mabbul
4. Air breathers that perished
5. Chronology of the Flood
6. Restoration after the Flood
7. The Ark of Ararat
Where did the Ark land? Is it important for us to know? What should we make
of the numerous "Ark expeditions" that have set out to find the ark
in the country that is now Turkey? Some of these matters are discussed in The
resting place of the Ark by Richard Johnston.
